Asantehene  sits in State at Last Akwasidae Festival 2011.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene sat in state to receive over 25 groups and scores of people from all walks of life.

The festival which was attended by Traditional rulers, politicians, the clergy, educationists, business executives and people of all walks of life paid homage to him.

The Regional Minister and his Deputy, Anima Wilson, Mr. Samuel Sarpong and members of the Regional Security Council represented the government. The festival was characterized by cultural drumming and dancing.

Several Members of Parliament (MPs) from various parts of the country, particularly the ruling NDC and NPP were at the colourful event.

Mr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, MP for Kwabre West who spoke on behalf of his colleagues MPs, said Ghanaians were much aware of the good works of Otumfuo so far.

He noted that the Asantehene had helped to raise the image of the chieftaincy institution in the country since he ascended the golden stool more than a decade ago, noting that Ghanaians were proud of him.

Dressed in a rich colourful Kente cloth with gold ornaments to match on his hands, fingers, sandals, and ankle, Otumfuo Osei Tutu arrived at the durbar grounds in a palanquin amid drumming of fontonfrom (talking drum).

Otumfuo later organized lunch for over 700 guests after the function with Daddy Lumba playing life band at the Manhyia garden.
